Intelligent personal assistants are nowadays neither very intelligent nor very personal. Despite that, they are still part of our daily lives and are used for simple tasks such as setting alarms or reading the news. With cultural and technological shifts, new use cases emerge that allow more natural conversations between humans and machines. This project was based on the first version of GPT-3 and aimed to research possible embodiments of general AI systems and their role in our future lives.
This project features the development of a domestic robot which is able to talk, move its head and display visuals in order to express itself. It has one eye, four ears and listens out for its name "Sunny". Powered by state-of-the-art language and speech recognition/synthesis models, it is able to have conversations in real-time that go beyond just setting a timer or asking for the weather forecast.
Sunnys goal is to inspire. It listens to your ideas and asks questions about them. Or even comes up with its own ideas. Even though the answers are not always as good as from other humans, they can more often than not help you to expand your horizons.
